About Me
I’m Chris, a dad, a nerd, a gamer, a pirate, and a blogger. I used to be a punk rocker, a soldier, and a hacker. I write mostly to cope with depression and anxiety. I write about practical things like playing video games and my tinkering in my home lab, and I write about esoteric things like building Digital Sovereignty while surviving in a feudal corporate hellscape. I think a lot about computers, media, and the Internet in both cultural and political terms.
I try not to write too much about politics. As a Gen-Xer who was raised on punk rock, I’ve always been an anarchist. When I was young, I was a “Anarchyburger, hold the government” type. The pre-social media Internet turned me into more of a post-scarcity anarchist. In the years since, watching billionaires buy laws to preserve artificial scarcity have turned me pretty far to the left. I guess you can sum up my politics mostly as “a tech-informed libertarian democratic socialist.” But to put is simply: mesh networking as lefty politics.
